The Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) at Maharaja Agrasen Model School (MAMS) was established under the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, to foster creativity, innovation, and problem-solving among students. Since its inception in 2017, ATL MAMS has provided students with a platform to experiment with emerging technologies, build prototypes, and develop solutions to real-world challenges.
Over the years, the lab has achieved numerous milestones including national rankings in ATL Marathon, international representation, innovation bootcamps, and impactful student-led projects.
ATL Inauguration – September 1, 2017
The Atal Tinkering Lab at MAMS was inaugurated on September 1, 2017, marking the beginning of a journey dedicated to innovation and experiential learning. The lab was established to encourage students to explore technology, robotics, electronics, and design thinking through hands-on activities.
First Innovation – ATL Ganesh (October 2017)
Soon after the inauguration, students created their first innovation “ATL Ganesh”, launched on Dhanteras 2017, symbolizing the creative integration of tradition and technology.
ATL Marathon 2017 – National Rank 1
The project “Smart Tap” secured Nationwide Rank 1 in ATL Marathon 2017, presenting an innovative solution to improve water conservation and sanitation.
ATL Marathon 2018 – Flood Resistant House
Students developed the project “Flood Resistant House”, addressing challenges faced in flood-prone areas. The project successfully secured a place among India’s Top 50 innovations, demonstrating the growing impact of ATL MAMS.
First TinkerFest – 2018
MAMS organized its first TinkerFest, an annual celebration of creativity and innovation where students presented their projects, collaborated with peers, and showcased their ideas.
InSpreneur 3.0 – Singapore
ATL MAMS proudly represented India at InSpreneur 3.0, a global business and innovation summit organized by the High Commission of India in Singapore. Held at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, the event provided students with an opportunity to present their innovations on an international stage.
Visit by Adobe VP Ms. Mala Sharma
On February 28, 2020, Ms. Mala Sharma, Vice President at Adobe, visited MAMS and interacted with ATL students. She explored the lab, appreciated student innovations, and encouraged young innovators to continue creating impactful solutions using technology.
Alongside competitions and achievements, ATL MAMS regularly conducts hands-on workshops, innovation challenges, and collaborative learning activities.
Foldscope Workshop
Students explored microscopy using Foldscope, a low-cost paper microscope, encouraging scientific curiosity and experimentation.
Innovation Bootcamps
Students participated in innovation bootcamps where they worked intensively on developing prototypes, refining ideas, and presenting solutions to real-world challenges.
ATL MAMS has been visited by several distinguished guests and organizations who have appreciated the innovation ecosystem created by students.

Mr. R. Raman, Mission Director of Atal Innovation Mission, visited ATL MAMS and interacted with students while observing their innovative projects.
Apple Education Team Visit
The Apple Education Team also visited the lab, exploring how students integrate creativity and technology in their innovations.
Ideathon 2024 – IIT Delhi
ATL MAMS students participated in Ideathon 2024 held at IIT Delhi with their project “VAANI – VoiceBridge Innovation.”
The project focuses on helping the mute community communicate using gesture recognition and a connected mobile application. The innovation was selected among the Top 100 projects nationwide, marking another milestone in the ATL journey.
